Panoramic views meet enjoyment

Magnificent location within the historic castle, with a stunning view of the Rhine. The first step onto the terrace opens the view wide: ships glide slowly upstream, vineyard slopes catch the light. Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows frame the landscape like paintings.

The first-class Puricelli restaurant serves seasonal, regional cuisine. The wine list reflects the heart of the surrounding vineyards. Since 2020, the castle’s own wine has been poured into the glass – grown directly around the castle itself.

Architecture and a refined selection of materials

The descent begins: an old concrete staircase, gently worn over time, leads downward. The air becomes cooler, the space quiet. This is where the wine cellar of Reichenstein Castle in Trechtingshausen begins. “The most beautiful wine cellar on the right bank of the Rhine,” said Managing Director Mr. Gewvinat after completion in 2019. From a raw shell, our team created a small idyll.

Architecture and materials

Antique bricks structure the cellar and give the room a distinctive character. A natural stone floor laid in large-format slabs emphasizes the historically solid foundation. The glass front with pointed arch connects the cellar with the corridor and adjacent rooms. Old and new merge seamlessly.

A natural stone slab floor supports the room and gently carries the light onward. Stone upon stone, layer by layer: historic bricks, carefully selected, cleaned and laid in bond. The result is an order that respects the old fabric while showing modern precision. In masonry niches built from antique bricks, Ferrum metal wine racks made of powder-coated steel are installed. Clean lines, high functionality. Some compartments are secured with lockable grilles – reserved for the rarest bottles.

Stylish lighting

Above the two central islands hang two linear pendant lights: dark metal shelves suspended on rods, carrying groups of large cylindrical light bodies at different heights. The opal cylinders resemble candles, emitting warm white light with glare-free illumination all around. They shape the oak surfaces of the islands, soften the appearance of the bricks, and create a calm, central lighting accent.

View and connection

A glass front with pointed arch connects the cellar with the corridor and the additional cellar rooms. Transparency outward, tranquility within.

Atmosphere

The cellar combines history with modernity through a carefully balanced mix of materials. Stone provides calm, steel provides structure, and oak adds warmth. The result is a remarkable space for storage, tasting, and memorable experiences that stay with you.
